Somehow I can't see Bellyache going for him, he has too much baggage and despite his Union talent a big big ? as to whether he could cope with the different pressures of League! Its always nice to convert one from the Dark Side but not enough plusses this time to outweigh the negatives!

Give me a break!

Fact; the Australian Rugby Union is 19 million dollars IN DEBT. This is the same code that 10 years ago at a World Cup boasted that the profits from the competition would become a war chest to kill of rugby league in this country.

The players under contract to the ARU are now being forced to take pay cuts. This talk about O'Connor jumping codes is the first sign of rats deserting a sinking ship. Now rugby league is the one with all the money, all the power and all of the position.

I'll also wager Israel Folau not liking his pay cut and being in French/Japanese rugby or back in the NRL by 2015.

As for O'Connor playing for Melbourne. Absolutely not. As for him playing rugby league at all; get your hand off it!

The only O'Connor who has ever succeded was Michael O'Connor and the last high profile player to switch to league, Garrick Morgan, was a dismal failure. Sure there were the odd success stories a la John Timu but that was almost 20 years ago that he won a premiership with Canterbury.

The games are poles apart from where they were 15-20 years ago when raa raas would come across to chase the dollars in the superior rugby code.

If he wanted to play league he would have gone through his local junior system but instead he fell for the ARU mentality of "see the world....not just Leeds" and drinking espresso under the Eiffel Tower.

lima lima lima duck the ARU and lima lima lima duck James O'Connor.

Furthermore, why waste money on O'Connor when there are kids in the VRL system that are equally, if not more, deserving of a chance to play for their NRL side!
