grapples.
That is a possibilty which has crossed my mind, hence asking the question if they're meant to be charged for the offence...lotti wrote:maybe the MRC thinks that Hampstead, Petero and Bennett don't know a grapple when they see one.Hailstorm wrote: Aren't players meant to be charged for grapple tackles? Enough already!! Hasn't this been raised this year already? I am truly sick of being accused of grapples every other week AND it's not like other teams don't do it.......
Hampstead was pro-Bronco, did anyone have a close look at their hooker and fullback in the 66th minute? If Greg's one was a grapple then that certainly as because the Fullback's hand was in that region.

I'm telling you all that it will cost the Storm another premiership.

they have said tonight its NOT players being directly taken round the neck but when the arm comes over the shoulder and then they are wrestled to the grpound with pressure put on the neck - i think we should be cvareful as i can imagine it could easily damage a spinal disk like this. That being said the broncos were not saints yesterday either

especially at time index 65:59 there were 3 Broncos involved in that tackle and the Hooker and Fullback's hands were looking suspect especially the Fullback's who's left hand you can see up near the jaw region.

the same should go for Mr. Bennett, think Craig has a problem with his players doing illegal tackles well that's nothing to the thugs Bennett coaches. I have Bronco issues and was looking forward to seeing Storm Man's toy horse in a noose, so the toy horse but no noose.

yeah I would, I would also count the tackle a Panthers player did about 30 seconds before regulation fulltime, there's the tackle the Broncos Hooker and Fullback did during our game on I think Kingy you can probably count quite a few tackles as grapples but refs just don't pick up on them, the Video Ref needs that penalty power back they've got the benifit of the replay.

LOL! Greg Eastwood's daddy is threatening to sue Storm (club or Inglis) for assault in the form of the tackle where he claims pressure around the neck caused a leg injury to his son.
Someone needs to be suspended from the NRL til his father learns to STFU.

"David Gallop and the NRL are turning a blind eye. There are illegal things happening on the field and nobody is getting punished. Twisting someone's neck is intentional to hurt somebody – that's assault.
"They can stick their NRL laws up their bum because in a court of law it won't stand up."
Stormin North Queanbeyan!
injuries come with his son's chosen profession, RL is a dangerous job and if Greg was say an emergancy worker I doubt his father would be sueing the organisation responsable for the injury.

This could cost us, how much i dont know hopefully not a result in a semi or grand final

Broncos forward lifts lid on grapple tackle controversy
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sto...-14823,00.html
THE grapple tackle debate took a dramatic turn yesterday with back-rower Corey Parker's extraordinary admission from the Brisbane camp.
The shock development came as Melbourne Storm, often linked with the illegal tackle, reacted angrily to claims it practices the technique. Parker sensationally claimed "every team does it, including ourselves" while Storm maintains it's innoncence.
Parker's comments are the first from a Broncos player acknowledging the team uses the illegal tackle, and are at odds with coach Wayne Bennett and skipper Petero Civoniceva -- who have repeatedly labelled Melbourne as the chief culprits. Bennett has frequently denied his players are schooled in the controversial wrestling technique, where a ball-carrier's neck is seized in a wrestling hold to slow down the play-the-ball.
Young Broncos prop David Taylor was penalised for a similar motion during Sunday's spiteful match at Olympic Park."Every team does it, including ourselves, it's just a matter of who gets away with it the most," Parker said.
"A lot of teams are trying to find a edge on how to slow play-the-balls down and this and that. I guess if you can screw someone's neck off, it's going to slow things down."
While Parker argued the practice should be stamped out, he refused to throw stones at Melbourne.
"There's a lot of teams who do it, I'm not saying it shouldn't be ruled out, but that's just the way footy is at the moment," he said. "It's never comfortable when they're trying to screw off your neck but I'm not going to stand here and whinge about a grapple tackle."
Storm coach Craig Bellamy denied yesterday his players practised the technique."We don't train to grapple tackle -- no way in the world. No way. Not with the pressure you guys (the media) put us under," Bellamy said.
Four Storm tackles reviewed after the game were cleared, including Greg Inglis's 68th-minute tackle on Brisbane five-eighth Greg Eastwood, who sustained a knee injury.
Bennett said the tackle played a significant role in Eastwood's knee injury.
The Herald Sun can reveal grapple concerns are far from being a one-way street.
Several Brisbane players were guilty of attacking the heads or necks of Storm players on Sunday, with Ryan Hoffman a victim at least twice.
Civoniceva can be seen with his arm around the head of Hoffman in the fourth minute, while Dane Carlaw also had his arm around Hoffman's neck less than 60 seconds after Inglis was penalised for the tackle on Eastwood. Inglis last night hit back at Bennett's accusations. "I don't know how (being) around the facial area can even do anything with the knee. One's up high and one's up low," Inglis said. "It had nothing to do with my contact at all."
Match review committee co-ordinator Greg McCallum said Inglis had made initial contact with Eastwood's shoulder."We looked closely at it and he (Inglis) came in to finish off the tackle," he said. "There was no-where to grab but around the top of the shoulder. You couldn't blame the grapple tackle for the injury"
