According to the 131500 website, the last train to depart from Olympic Park back to Central is the 12:08am train. Up until 11:30pm, trains will depart every 5 to 10 minutes. After that should be every 10 minutes until just after midnight. With the earlier game time, this should allow 5 hours of celebration / commiseration before having to leave.

Game tickets include use on all public transport on Grand Final day, with the exception of travel from Green Square, Domestic and International where a "station access fee" applies to get into the city.

Also Mascot Station (the stop between Domestic and Green Square).

However, the station access fee is not to get into the city.  It's to get in or out of the station.  Once you're in the station, the train fare is zero with a GF ticket on the day.

The most useful PT on the day is the network of special buses that runs to and from the site.  They run most of the day inbound, and a very large number of buses run outbound after the game, with the final departures at 8:30 (approx 90 mins after full time).

"the station access fee" is actually the fare from the airport to the city, whatever that cost is. I know from Liverpool way it is $14+. Grand Final tix do not include these fares as quoted in earlier post.

Cheers

Actually, they are two separate things.  To travel to or from an Airport Line station you need to have paid for the rail fare and the station access.

If you ask for a "gate pass", you get charged only for entrance to the station, whereas the rail fare component is covered by your GF ticket (on the day).

The same arrangement applies to anyone with a Periodical rail ticket to other stations on the East Hills line, or to people with a TravelPass or a Pensioner Excursion.

The (adult) Gate Pass costs are as follows:

Green Square & Mascot: $2.40
Domestic & International: $11.40

(If you don't already have a ticket for the rail system, you do of course have to buy a single or return ticket which has the gate pass cost built into the ticket already)

The Airport Link Gate Pass

Ticket fares to and from Airport Link Stations are a combination of two charges, one part being the rail component based on the current CityRail fare structure and a second component known as the ‘Station Access Fee’ or ‘Gate Pass’. This fee is to help recover the cost of building, running and maintaining the four stations. As a privately owned and operated business fares must be set in order to ensure the business remains commercially viable.
