Are storm feeling the bite of the salary cap now?  While they have been able to hold onto the core of great players, we don't have the depth that we have had for the past few years.  We have always had a player like Friend or Aubussen ready to step in.  What if Storm had been hit with a stack of injuries during the season.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't be holding tight to those we can, just that we seem to be lacking the depth that we have had in the past.

Maybe we are missing Peter Sullivan in recruitment?

we have been feeling the salary cap for 2 years. The club has done am amazing job i retaining our stars in the main - and getting players to stay for less than they can earn elsewhere or for less than previous contracts. Every club has the same problem, but it gets worse when your sucessful - i would prefer 3 years of brilliance and glory and then lose some players than 10 years of being south sydney

Absolutely the salary cap is biting. The way the cap works to team tend to have a 2-3 year period were they go really well, then the cap bites and they slide down the ladder for a few years.

Yep its just the way it is these days. While you are having your dominate period you got to make the most out of it.

Although we are back with the field next season im still pretty excited with some of the younger blokes we will have on show

Imo we still got 2 more years of being title challengers with this group. Next I think we will be a tough ask to go all the way due to the inexperience of our forwards but 2010 we will go very close.

It ain't panic stations just yet. Look who we still have on our books for the next few years. We appear to be pretty thin in the forwards so hopefully a few on the young ones can really step up, and sure our depth may appear thin also howover we do have a good recent history of bringing out the best in the youngsters. Whilst we may not make the Grand Final every year, I think we will remain competitive for years to come. And who knows, in that time we may get lucky...

no not pacni stations just yet.

The main thing is tho, we have now grown a culture that other players want to come to. Some players dont want to make the trip to melbourne for a stack of reasons, but with a winning team and arguably the worlds best coach i think players are starting to now think that the storm is a good option to further their career.

Look at the younger guys coming through the ranks now...we have some good'uns in that group...and im not too worried about the immediate future. Maybe 2-3 more years before we are hit really hard, when slater, cronk, cam and bellyache move on then ofcourse we will be into a re-building stage.

we have lost champions before and still managed to find our way to the top....cant see that changing anytime soon.

I'am not too worried especially when i saw the recruits we brought in for next season which will provide us with sufficient depth. I suppose the forward line is a little worry but as we've seen the youngsters can step up. I mean just look at Aidan Tolman this year whose been very impressive when given an opportunity.

I think where the Cap has hit us hardest is our back up players,we may keep most of the stars, then it falls away quickly,

Like Sally said , in previous seasons, we woukd have had Aubusun and Friend ready to start in the 9 shirt if Cam was unavailible ,

Last in the finals year we had Blair, Kaufusi , Crossman and Manu as fowards who could'nt make the starting 17,

Thats where it is hitting us hardest, in our depth.
Go the Allblacks, Richmond , and the mighty Storm

I don't think anyone is saying that we won't still be a top 3 team just back with the the pack.

Look at some of the young blokes we got to prove themself straight up next year

Taumata
Hinchcliffe
Chambers
Tomane
Tolman

And what better way for these blokes to develop then in a proven winning culture
