Cameron Smith has been anointed the Club Caption on his own in a change to the current rotation policy.
MELBOURNE coach Craig Bellamy has done away with the NRL club's captain rotation, anointing Cameron Smith as Storm's sole skipper for the remainder of the season.

Melbourne has used a leadership group for the past two years, with the captaincy alternated weekly.

But with the finals just five rounds away, top-placed Storm has opted to make a major change to its leadership dynamics as the club bids to go one better than last year and win the 2007 premiership.

Smith was one of five players selected by Bellamy before the start of the season to form the club's leadership group.

The other four players were Dallas Johnson, Michael Crocker, Matt Geyer and Cooper Cronk.

My thoughts exactly. He has been ready for the added responsibility for quite some time now. I would anoint Cronk as his deputy. He has been super impressive with his leadership work through playing the half-back role and we really missed that when he was out.

2 young leaders who could easily fill those roles for the next 6+ years.

Well - the only other way I could word solo had other connotations - so I went with the Star Wars version! ;)

I'd consider this the first salvo fire by Bellamy in our finals campaign.From here on in I'd expect it to be ruthless & bloody.  :pirate:
