I was just doing some thinking today and I was wondering if anyone knows what offseason training is going to be done. I know Bellamy is a Fitness Freak and the squad go to the army barracks and whatnot, but I mean are we concentrating on Skills, Bulking up, Cardiovascular Fitness or just an even amount of everthing.

Personally I would like to see a huge effort to bulk up. Especially guys like Hoffman, White, Kidwell, Johnson etc who are important to our go forward. If these guys can sacrifice a bit of speed for some more muscle say 5kg then I think it would benefit our new gameplan around Cronk.

I know we have one of the best attacks in the comp but imo our success will come next year on the back of some huge go forward.

I would like to know anyones opinions/information/relevance on this topic.

Cheers

Hoffman looked just a tad understrentgh this year I thought,
if he could get up to the 102 to 104kg range he'd be lethal I reckon.

My understanding is that the initial off-season training focuses on fitness with a lot of running. Then later on they do team bonding work, like they do some army/sas type regime, then into more specific training and ball work.

When does training start?

How many do they have in the training squad? About 40?

It would be nice to see the full list of players training.

they had a article on their site last week i think. They said all the young players and new buys like steve turner, cronk, inglis crocker, cross etc were coming in early to start training IIRC it was start of november?(dont quote me on any of this tho) then towards the end of november or something the other players were going to start...and king, webby and kiddy were going to start training later on after the test commitment is fulfilled and they get a little rest.

You wouldn't want them to bulk up too much Parramatta of 2004 and Penrith of 2005 showed the problem when you have too much size and too little mobilty in the pack. However as the Storm had the smallest pack in the comp and on a fair number of occasions throught 2005 were dominated by bigger packs, these guys gaining a little extra size would certainly assist your cause.

Tevita isn't listed  I hope he isn't released!!!

I guess two more that need to be added would be Chris Walker and Matthew Bartlett.

I can't believe they have 8 Devils players and no Bears players

Penrith would have been shit even if they didnt bulk up everyone, parramatta did the same thing this season and it didnt seem to effect them when they had a mind to play...

I really have to say that the only way that Boofa played at that kick from Orford was if he cracked a fat.

you need a good mobile pack i think, with a bit of muscle, the tigers really showed that this year, guys like fulton, heighinton and them, those guys really played outta their skins for the tiges and now their premiership players... well thats my opinion anyway
The Premiers of 2005 are - Melbourne Storm

Yeah I reckon he's going to be pushin for a spot soon, he just needs that extra few kg's to give him that extra
size and strengh then he will be fully sick.

the tigers "mobile" forward pack only seemed successful because of their electric backline. IMO the storm need to dominate up front before scoring tries as we have lost the two guys who were capable of making the most line breaks. Cronk will only be successful on the back of a "huge" forward pack IMO.
