Grand Final Ratings
hey guys i was just looking at nrl.com at found this out "Melbourne also recorded an increase of 120,000 viewers, averaging 514,000 viewers this year " Well now you see what some advertising does, ill guarantee ch9 will turn a blind eye to these figures and it will be the same next year...also was the GF the only game we had LIVE for the whole year???

The Grand Final was the only live league game we've had all year from channel 9. The closest was Origin 3 at 9:30 instead of 11:00pm or whatever late time slot they put for the first two.
NRL Grand Final has always rated highly in Melbourne AFAIK.

Did you guys in Melbourne get any of the pregame show?
In country Vic they didnt even show the team lineups, the telecast sarted with the players running out of the tunnels
and also after the game finished they interviewed Pat Richards then Benji and then the telecast ended.
What a joke!

There's a thread on this in the NRL section.StormBrad wrote:hey guys i was just looking at nrl.com at found this out "Melbourne also recorded an increase of 120,000 viewers, averaging 514,000 viewers this year " Well now you see what some advertising does, ill guarantee ch9 will turn a blind eye to these figures and it will be the same next year...also was the GF the only game we had LIVE for the whole year???
I was most surprised we actually got to see the medals and trophies presented. In the past - the telecast finished almost as soon as the siren sounded. Had to wait for websites to update to show us the Clive Churchill Medallist. An improvement... But still poor form.
Can someone who was at the game PLEASE tell me that there was more entertainment (pre match or half time) that Kate Beckinsackinthwaiteorwhomever singing one song?!?!

Pre-match there was Pete Murray, The Veronicas and a lot of kids with balloons ... better than Billy Idol annoucing he loves his footy but still very typically boring.Buzz wrote:I was most surprised we actually got to see the medals and trophies presented. Most guys would have liked the cheerleading performance though, they were prancing about, some in nothing more than underwear, to the song "Don't cha"

I read that they also had the blackhawk helicopter. Was there much fireworks?Christabella wrote:Pre-match there was Pete Murray, The Veronicas and a lot of kids with balloons ... better than Billy Idol annoucing he loves his footy but still very typically boring.

I'd read before the GF that they would do a tribute thing for some of the retiring players, ie Robbie Kearns, Jason Stephens, etc.

Absolutely none.Surandy wrote: I read that they also had the blackhawk helicopter. Was there much fireworks?
Yeah as usual there were highlights of the players careers being shown as Pete Murray sang one song and before that they were called on to the stage one by one and presented with something.Surandy wrote:I'd read before the GF that they would do a tribute thing for some of the retiring players, ie Robbie Kearns, Jason Stephens, etc.

Would'nt ya know it, Rugby league DOES actually rate in Melbourne.
What will Channel 9's excuse be next year for not showing State of Origin Live??
"...Uhhh.. we have a special on Shane Crawford that we need to show"
Channel nine are pathetic, you just need to look at how they handled the latest Ashes series to see how delusional they are when it comes to what will and what wont rate.
