He's staying, surely Frank Ponissi and co arent dumb enough to let Nielsen, Blair and co walk to save money for GI, only to let GI go as well.

So why delay the announcement then and give brisbane until 12.00 today to up their offer which they now have? obviously we are willing to let him go for the right price, we can sign nielsen for 200k and he WANTS to be here, this charade has gone on long enough, an ultimatum needs to be put to GI now! its all about money and its getting pathetic. So much for brisbanes stance of not budging their offer, lies lies and more lies.

Inglis mystery could be solved soon
WAYNE HEMING August 9, 2010 - 7:39PM AAP

The Greg Inglis mystery could be solved within the next 48 hours with Brisbane far from out of the race for his hotly contested signature. It's been more than three weeks since Brisbane put forward their official offer in the vicinity of $400,000 a season. After releasing several players to keep under budget in 2011, salary cap rorters Melbourne are now better positioned to fend off bids for their superstar centre who is also considering offers from the Titans and South Sydney. The battle for Inglis could be known within the next day or two following a series of talks in the past week involving his manager Allan Gainey, Melbourne and NRL salary cap chief Ian Schubert. It's understood the sticking point remains the exit payment Melbourne would have to make to top up Inglis's reported $650,000-a-season contract should he go to another NRL club next season. However it's believed the negotiating parties are very close to making a decision on Tuesday or Wednesday.Reports on Monday suggested both the Titans and Broncos were resigned to Inglis staying with the Storm. While Gold Coast chief executive Michael Searle was prepared to wave the white flag, Brisbane officials were not giving up on securing Inglis, a perfect fit to replace AFL-bound Israel Folau. The club would not comment on Monday on speculation they'd missed their man.In fact they continued to maintain the quiet confidence they've displayed since Inglis's agent contacted them last month to gauge the club's interest after it emerged the Storm may be unable to keep their "Fab Four" of Inglis, Billy Slater, Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk.© 2010 AAP

After weeks of to-ing and fro-ing as the Storm continue to work on getting under the $4.2 million salary cap for the 2012 NRL season, Cullen suggested that Melbourne were leaning towards holding onto the 23-year-old rather than subsidise his salary at another club.
  :?
A typo ? Or has Cullen had 'the word' from his masters at News Ltd ?

Article - Inglis likely to stay with Storm

This farce does seem to be getting ridiculous

As Frank Ponissi said, he has no problems staying. Just because he asked for a release, doesnt necessarily mean he doesnt want to be here.

If Inglis goes it is the clubs decision now.  They shouldn't be stupid and release him no matter what the Broncos extra offer is.  If they do well that's just soft & a stupid business decision.  I'm sure GI & his missus can survive on $660,000 grand a year.

Actually that wasn't actually the case. He had offered to make the move if it was the right thing for the TEAM staying together. And my personal gut feeling as to the reasons he offered was because he'd been worded up by news Ltd officials. The now sacked directors came up with a plan to keep the four, but as we all know, they were then sacked for other stupid reasons. Greg never wanted to leave, and as I stated in earlier posts neither did his family. The whole idea of Inglis going was hatched by News Ltd, but as time wore on, and Greg maintained he wanted to stay they were forced to look at other options.
