Re: Storm more than just game day?

The problem with Melbournians is that they are obssessed with AFL - and nothing else. And their lies the problem! And to make matters worse, the main form of communication, those morons on Channel 9, don't exactly help the rugby league cause either! The only reason why soccer has had more of an impa...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

Ice, thanks for your insightful comments. In relation to some points you made please note the following:- 1. You are right the Swans are averaging 32k per round this year. But this figure is distorting as you need to consider the full year, as there was 1 token match here played at Homebush that is ...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

The story was a load of shit! It was just a typical POOR piece of sensationalist reporting by 60 minutes. I live in Sydney and I see no evidence of AFL taking over at all! The Swans play at the SCG every fortnight, and they attract a crowd of just over 20,000 people. And that is for a team that has ...

Re: mark geyer scoop on "talkin Sport"

Bellamy will stay with the Storm - $2.2 milliion is an excellent deal! For the interest of the NRL developing further in Melbourne, NewsCorp will make sure he stays in Melbourne.....

Re: Sounds like Bellamy has already made up his mind....

Contrary to populr belief, but it's actually a good thing that the NRL is co-owned by News Limited. Ten years ago the NRL was in strife and very badly mismanaged. Today, the game is in the best shape it's ever been...it's enjoying record ratings, record crowds etc etc. It's being run professionally....

Re: Sounds like Bellamy has already made up his mind....

News corp does have goodwill and that IS money!

The success of Melbourne = money whereas the failure of Melbourne = no money

With Brisbane, success or failure will still bring money.......therefore, it's in NewsCorp's interests that Ballamy remain in Melbourne.....

Re: Sounds like Bellamy has already made up his mind....

Unless it's for family or personal reasons, there is no was Bellamy will leave the Storm for Brisbane. Both the Storm and the Broncos are News Corp owned clubs. NewsCorp being co-owner of the NRL has a massive agenda for Melbourne. They know that the popularity of the code in Melbourne hinges on the...

Re: Storm vs Roosters @ SFS Sat 29th 5:30pm

No need to panic just yet. They lost two games - big deal! And they weren't thrashed in neither games.....and besides, the Roosters are a good side and should never have been underestimated.....in fact, the Broncos were very lucky to beat them the other week...... I'm confident that the Storm will w...

Re: MELBOURNE STORM vs Cronulla Sharks (Oly. Park - 3pm Sun 23rd Mar)

Good point MRPC. Never looked at it from that perspective (ie. Nine not giving us a fair go because so they can get the AFL rights back in a few years). Anyway, the bottom line is that rugby league rates better than AFL.....I just hope that those morons that rolled over to Channel 9 in negotiating t...

Re: MELBOURNE STORM vs Cronulla Sharks (Oly. Park - 3pm Sun 23rd Mar)

How could you get a bumper crowd today?????? Given the circumtances, I thought 11k was alright. 1. The Easter long weekend (not to mention the fact that it was Easter Sunday) 2. It did rain throughout the game - though I won't highlight as a reason. 3. We only had a HOME game 6 days ago. 4. Cronulla...
