Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

You're an idiot! And as for the 32,000 members are they there for free too? Does that include the South Melbourne supporters from Melbourne too? And why is the AFL giving out handouts to the Swans? You've not listened to anything that I've put down, hence the reason for the dumb arguments! I've trie...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

There are more distractions in Sydney....the population of Sydney is 4.2 million + another 1 million people in surrounding areas (ie. Newcastle, Blue Mountains, and Wollongong)....that equals 5 million people.....so they go to all these distractions....and not to mention that Sydney is Australia's o...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

Common sense - the excellent crowds are the 3 for $30, and the freebies!

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

Agree with most of your points Showe em Howe.....I still do believe that given that if a game is being televised LIVE on television, people will think twice about going to the game. You may be a big fan but in tight economic conditions, you need to prioritise where your money goes and that's food on...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

You still didn't answer my question. If Sydney has so many more distractions in Sydney then why are they sitting at home getting massive tv ratings watching the footy? Obviously when you say distractions you mean the tv is the biggest distraction of them all. Actually I may have the answer. If you ...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

You tell me why they are sitting at home watching the footy on TV???

And you didn't answer my question - how do you know that Swans don't give out free tickets to their game? Are you employed by the Swans?

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

PS. I attend NRL games at least every fortnight and I have lived in Sydney for 10 years now....and I have never seen any free tickets being given away on street corners...that's not to say that it doesn't happen..........but I’m sure it happens at the AFL too….. How would you know that the Swans wou...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

OK Ice then you tell me why Melbourne attracts more people to any sporting event than in Sydney????? Because to this day, I can't work it out.... As I pointed out in every sporting competition Sydney's crowds lag behind Melbourne. For God's sake, even for a horce race that lasts 3 minutes or so, Mel...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

"in 2004, the swans were very close to folding. conveniently they have since played in 2 grand finals and won one. also conveniently, brisbane or sydney (afl) played in 6 consecutive grand finals. I would still love to see how they go crowd wise when one or both have a shocker season. this is ...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

Who knows AAS? I imagine that it would not be in the Swans' interests to release this information. What I do know that everytime there is a home game, there is HEAVY advertising of these tickets in the Daily Telegraph in the lead up to the game. The reality is, it is these tickets plus the financial...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

PS 2. The only concern for the NRL about the AFL buying ANZ Stadium is that NRL clubs that play there get $100k for every match. This easy money in a time where the financial squeeze is on because of reduced poker machine taxes. Other than that, ANZ Stadium is an NRL's fan worst nightmare. Here are ...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

PS. So this is the very reason why the NRL needs to get off it's arse, and look at growing elsewhere. Take 4 teams out of Sydney, put 1 on the Central Coast, 1 in Perth (and amongst the minor states) - this is the city with the strongest RL representation, another team in Brisbane as a city of 2 mil...

Re: 60 MINUTES Story featuring Storm

Some good points Buzz. RL crowds may suck in Sydney...but that's just the way it is. Whatever code it is, be it RL, rugby union, cricket, soccer or whatever it is, crowds in Sydney always lag behind Melbourne.....as I've said it's an entirely different mindset between the residents of Sydney and Mel...

Re: Storm more than just game day?

AAS, to my knowledge State Of Origin was a huge ratings success. Since the introduction of the new ratings system introduced back in 2001, it recorded the highest ratings ever. My understanding, it was the biggest ratings that Origin has ever had right across Australia with almost 2.5 million people...
