Re: Vale Bourbon Rat (George Fairclough)

I was one of George's British friends . He helped develop my interest in Storm and became a good pal in the process. The world of rugby league is poorer for his passing. George's wit, kindness and enthusiasm were among his many strengths. I am saddened by his loss but proud that he was my friend. Go...

Re: Hello from Cairns, QLD

Hi Didgi and welcome, mate.

I don't have enough time to get on here as much as I'd like, but there are some great people on here and they tell it how it is.

Cheers from Darrington, England which is mighty sunny this Monday morning.

Yes, and though he realised I was with the Featherstone club I was wearing my Storm rain jacket and baseball cap!

Re: Cactus' WCC diary

The session took place at Featherstone Rugby League Club, a club steeped in great tradition that has fallen on difficult times. Once a mighty club that has won Challenge Cup finals at Wembley amongst other prestigious titles, they are now in the division below Super League with very little chance o...

Re: Yorshire weather watch

It's brass monkey weather here.

There's three layers of frost here. The temperature in the day is not climbing above frezzing point.

If they've any sense, our lads will keep well lagged!

Re: HALIFAX V STORM

Just nine days to go...

Roll on a week on Friday!

Can't promise to put the red carpet down for the lads when they arrive but I'll try to keep the snow cleared ... well Halifax is up in the Pennines.

That's disappointing!

I was looking forward to seeing Cam play.

I've tickets for both the Storm matches being played up here.

Re: What the !

The bankrupting headline figure of 3.2 million is ridiculous as it assumes all sorts of lost income, poorer results  as well as for the loss of a top class player. The ridiculous element is that it overvalues the loss of Iestyn Harris who has not been performing to the level he originally did when h...

Re: Code XIII

Hi Bourbon Rat, We can get Channel M here - it's on satellite channel 203 The M is for Manchester It has a mix of culture, news and sport. The highlight of course is their RL coverage (CodeXIII) - usually reviewing local clubs' matches. It would be even better if it had more coverage of Yorkshire cl...

Re: Storm over Yorkshire

By 83 I'd been to Wembley three times before with Fev for a Challenge Cup Final: 1967 - Beat Barrow at Wembley - a crowd of 77,000 and me  saw Featherstone beat Barrow 17 - 12 1973 - Beat Bradford at Wembley - a crowd of  72,395 and me saw Fev beat Northern as they were then called 33 - 14 1974 - Lo...

Re: Storm over Yorkshire

Oh and yes I feel the game against Hull KR would probably be the best option for Storm.
They could still come to Featherstone to warm up though - they'd get a warm welcome and a well stocked bar.

Re: Storm over Yorkshire

Ah yes, Hull KR a fine old club in a fine city.Having watched Rovers (Fev) for many years I've watched KR play us on many occasions, in particular - one a cold, snowy Boxing Day or New years Day in Hull  which was a battle against the elements and the other in the seventies when the came to our grou...
