Increasing the popularity of RL in Melbourne

Hi, I've been reading the LU forum where some idiots have been attacking Melbourne Storm's popularity in this AFL dominated state and I thought of a tongue in cheek idea for a topic.

Let's discuss rule changes to see if we could come up with a Rugby League game that would be more palatable to AFL lovers.

First idea, when a player is held up over the line rather than moving him back to the 10 metre line and continuing with the tackle count, how about awarding the player one point for trying? In the spirit of AFL near enough is good enough to get a score on the board.

Second idea, when the ball goes into touch, rather than packing a scrum how about having the line thing that Union does but rather than a player throwing the ball back in have the touchie do it AFL style. That would appease both AFL & Union supporters and would give the touchie something to do rather, we all know the touchies don't do enough.
