Fox Sports, February 2nd

In a small coincidence Carolina were also wooden spooners two seasons back like their Penrith namesakes.

Yea I agree

Take of the pads and get rid of the extra team (allowing the offence side Defend) and youd have a pretty decent game.

Wow!!!

5 hours of the super bowl on FTA tv. It is pretty clear that Channel Nein don't have the rights to THIS sport!!!!

If Channel Nein had the rights would they even show 3 hours of the event?

Not only are SBS showing 5 hours live, but they are showing a highlights version of super bowl at night for those that miss the live screening. Although from past experience this "highlights" package is pretty crappy.

That 2 hour highlights package isn't really highlights - it's the whole game without all the stoppages!

Actual game time is 60 minutes (15 min quarters). Playing time is 5 hours.

For those that may not like the SBS coverage (they usually get some crappy yank who lives in aus to intro etc), there'll also be coverage on ESPN and FoxSports 2. I'm not sure which coverage will have the unadulterated coverage including the extra superduper special advertisements! All three will begin at 10am next Monday.

I have watched the super bowl tv each year for the last decade and only once have I missed the live broadcast and had to make do with that 2 hour replay.

The 2 hour replay is very pathetic, they cut it mid sentence when the commentators are talking and you get to see almost nil replays.

Congratulations to New England on taking out their 2nd Superbowl in 3 seasons.

I thought it was a really good game, tight defence in the 1st & 3rd quarters and an explosion of points in the 2nd & 4th.

A spirited comeback in the 4th from the Panthers after trailing most of the game, much like another team we know

But Vinateri made good on his earlier misses & slotted the crucial field goal to break the deadlock (and the Panthers hearts) with 8 seconds on the clock.

I found that to be a most interesting game (the parts where they actually played). And thanks to the commentary, I now have a basic understanding of the rules of the game (as well as the stupid idiosyncracies!). Who in their right minds would stop a game just to let everyone know there's only 2 minutes left! Silly!

Congrats to the Patriots!

What a ripper game!!

Disappointed that the Panthers got rolled, they put up a fantastic effort, but the more consistent team won.
