http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,,21 ... 11,00.htmlTHE AFL has recorded 24 positive tests since the birth of its illicit drugs policy, but the full extent of the problem will become clearer in a fortnight.
With speculation reaching fever-pitch, the league eagerly awaits the release of a report by medical officers on the first two years of the drug policy.
AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson said last night that the report would include details on the number of new positive tests from mid-August last year to mid-February.
And big talk around that the Nine AFL Footyshow has an explosive story tonight coming out of the West (may have something to do with a trip to Vegas and one of the players having to be revived.

um, maybe because I really don't give hoots about the AFL and there drug cover ups all the time and thought I would post it for those that are interest in that game.
The Skynews report was vague on anything about what the Nine footyshow breaking a big story coming from the west is....and it was only after the reports that the girl behind the desk mentioned the Vegas thing. Hence why I put it MAY HAVE.
some people are touchy today......must be a day away from the season starting.

SW, I'm not being touchy at all. Buzz asked you a question relating to your post and put a link in so you could see if that's what it was referring to, that's all. If you had've taken that time you would have noticed it is in fact the same story you mentioned about it 'may have something to do with Vegas'
It only takes a second to 'click'.

well that will make things abit exciting over here like the eagles need any more publicty. dont you just love it but the eagles are just victimised they would say over here. its the victorians picking on them they still seem to think its unfair that if the eagles and dockers make it to the GF why cant it be played here lol....

The Eagles are still too used to thinking they are the only team on the western seaboard. They see themselves as a protected species and far too many of their players run foul of the law and the community. And yet no-one seems to want to put the foot down in the way we saw at Canterbury. Must say that the Eagles players behaviour seems to be rubbing off on another club in Melbourne that thinks they're untouchable.

It's all there in black and white! The players are out to all hours, get into punch-ons and then think there's nothing wrong with what they did!
Mind you, my club has it's fair share of nongs. That incident in Ballarat recently. They all claimed they didn't have watches on and didn't know it was after 4am. What? No phone? I'm sure most if not all phones carry the time these days. Give me a break!

The fact that the AFL release these figures shows they are doing the opposite of covering it up. In fact I think they are going about this in the most realistic way, admit there is a problem, look to educate and rehabilitate players with a problem on the first couple of positives, then cut them lose on the third. Not releasing first and second offender names to the media is an important aspect of bringing the players to the table on testing.
I think it takes more balls to take a realistic path to dealing with the problem rather than being dictated to by the media and taking the easy populist road of tarring and feathering scapegoat players.
Just my opinion though, feel free to have a go at me about it.

Just let them all take drugs and bring it completely into the open. Work out which drugs are the safest and/or most effective, and get them from reputable pharma suppliers instead of someone who nicked them from a stables.
