ImageGrrrrr!

I suppose we can grudgingly say well done to the Tigers as they look forward to playing Leeds and the other big boys next season. :D

The Tigers have had a bit of local TV coverage, but not as much as their achievement merits!

BBC Website:
Leeds are interested in signing Everton defenders Gary Naysmith and David Weir, according to the players' agent.
Naysmith, 26, and Weir, 34, are free agents in the summer and Jim McArthur said Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell had spoken to him about signing them.

"Leeds would be interested but I don't know how far it's going to go and it depends on any offers the players receive from Everton," he said.

"Leeds are a big club but other clubs have also asked about them."
So yet more 'talking up' by agents wanting a pay rise for their players!

Midweek roundup 26/4/05

- Leeds United midfielder Sean Gregan believes the club can mount a serious promotion challenge next season.
The Elland Road club have not made the play-offs but the former Preston player is confident about the future.

Gregan told BBC Radio Leeds: "Any relegated team will find it's difficult to bounce back as everyone wants to beat a former Premiership side.

"It has been difficult but if we keep this squad together and add a few to it we can look forward to next season."

-Leeds 1-1 Ipswich Match at the weekend.

Ipswich will be involved in a straight fight with Wigan for automatic promotion after a draw at Leeds.
Shefki Kuqi put Ipswich ahead after 11 minutes when his shot took a deflection off Gary Kelly and wrong-footed keeper Neil Sullivan.

Leeds equalised almost immediately as Matthew Spring headed home from Frazer Richardson's cross.

Kuqi was just off target before Darren Currie somehow missed an open goal from Darren Bent's cross in injury-time.

Knowing Ipswich Town, if they don't finish second they'll probably conspire to get beaten in the playoffs... but then if Norwich go down, surely Ipswich Town can go up :)

I'm glad it comes down to the final day, although Wigan do have the advantage thanks to goal difference... hopefully whoever finishes third still comes up...

Sunday 1st May
Leicester 2-0 Leeds
BBC Sport Website:
Leicester end their home campaign with a comfortable victory over Leeds.
The Foxes totally dominated the first half and after Dion Dublin's header looped in from Gareth Williams' corner, David Connolly headed against the post.
Connolly tapped in a cross from Stephen Hughes to make it 2-0, while Hughes, Williams and Lilian Nalis went close.
Leeds improved after the break and were awarded a penalty when Paddy McCarthy brought down Matthew Spring, only for Ian Walker to deny Marlon King.
The season has fallen flat at the end for Leeds. It'll be interesting to see the changes made in the close season.
