LATIN American Rugby League will take on Thailand Stars with two sets of brothers in the starting line-up, and a fitting new sponsor.
Spawning the hashtag #BloodBrothers, the Heat have announced siblings Alvaro and Michael Alarcon (El Salvador), and Trent and Bradley Millar (Chile) for their January 16 clash at West Belconnen, Canberra.
The unveiling of the Heat line-up coincides with a generous sponsorship by Sydney-based Tattoo Tears, run by proud Uruguayan and Latino artist Moldi Zeballos.
Alongside naming rights sponsor Guzman y Gomez Mexican Taquerias and platinum sponsor S.H.I.E.L.D Security, the Heat will now wear the Tattoo Tears logo on their sleeves and back.
In pulling on the new-look black jersey, the Alarcon and Millar brothers will make joint history as the first brothers named in a Latin Heat starting line-up.
Previously, in January 2014 versus the Philippines, brothers Jose and Walter Orellana (El Salvador) played in the same side, though Walter started the match from the bench.
Other brothers to have worn Latin Heat colours, but not together in the elite side, include Mauricio and Brandon Rodriguez (El Salvador), Gabriel and Diego Papa (Uruguay/Argentina) and Edwin and Cruz Ventura (El Salvador)
The team to play Thailand next month includes just five of the players who drew 16-all with the Stars back in June 2014.
Mainstays Jye Sommers, Jonathon Espinoza, Jaden Laing, Sebastian Delapaz and Daniel Navarro continue their rich history in representing the Latin American ground-breakers.
They will be joined by former Sunshine Coast Falcons flyer Kevin McKenzie (Guyana), Mounties up-and-comer James Horvat (Chile) and Alexandria Rovers jack-in-the-box Jacob Parker (Peru).
Alvaro Alarcon will begin the game on the wing, with Michael Alarcon in the back row, the debutants joined by Bradley Millar at five-eighth and Trent Millar at halfback.
Bradley is another first-timer in Latin Heat colours, while Trent has one cap already to his name.

Situated in the Canberra suburb of Holt, the venue will also host a curtain-raiser between Latin Heat and Mediterranean under 18 teams.
Both teams contain numerous players from refugee families who have adopted Rugby League as a passion since relocating to Australia.
Admission will be $5 on the gate, all of which goes to supporting Rugby League in developing nations.
Last week, the GYG Latin Heat met with Rugby League officials instrumental in the game’s uptake in Brazil and Argentina.
Recently the Heat donated $1000 each towards equipment for both Argentinian and Mexican competitions.

Serbia begin their preparations for the Rugby League World Cup Qualifiers – Europe which take place this autumn, with an historic two week tour of Australia starting this weekend. They will take part in the international Cabramatta 9s and play an international against the Philippines on 5 February, in the first visit of its kind by the currently 11th-ranked nation.
The squad is made up of domestic-based players, those from Serbia playing in the Australian competition and 12 heritage players, as the pool of talent available increases.
Team manager of the tour Blagoje Stoiljković commented: “We’ve been preparing this tour over a year and it is crucial in our bid to go to the World Cup. Besides the opportunity to play against different opposition, the tour will give us an opportunity to include the Serbian origin players from Australia for the first time.
“Our goal is also to connect with our community there whose support we also need in our historic quest to go to the 2017 World Cup in the southern hemisphere.”
Along with Stoiljković, eight players from Serbian clubs have departed for Sydney: Dalibor Vukanović, Stevan Stevanović, Stefan Nedeljković (all from champions RK Dorćol), Vojislav Dedić (pictured), Vladislav Dedić, Miloš Ćalić, Miloš Zogović (RLK Crvena Zvezda) and Džavid Jašari (R13K Partizan). They will be joined by four local players that already have played for Serbia: Ilija Radan, Dejan Lukenić, Milan Radojević and Adam Nedić.
Awaiting debuts are eight new Serbian origin players: David Anđelić (Blacktown Workers, Massey NSW), Joshua Blenkinsop (Burleigh Bears U18, Gold Coast), Ilija Čotrić (Bush Rangers, ACT-Canberra), Stevan Dobrić (Belrose Eagles, Manly Warringah NSW), Reece Grkinić (Cabramatta West Magpies, NSW), Joshua Marjanović (Kawana Dolphins, Sunshine Coast QLD), Nikola Štrbac (unattached), George Vujanović (East Tigers, Brisbane QLD).
Jason Greene will be the head coach for this tour, Shane Millard assistant coach, Mitchell Henderson in charge of the physical preparation, Adrian Kraft defence coach and Cameron Dyer physio. The staff team was selected by newly-appointed special consultant to the Serbian national team, current Wakefield Wildcats coach Brian Smith.
After winning European Championship B last year, Serbia is in Group A of the 2016 European qualifiers for the 2017 World Cup, which will be held across Australia, New Zealand and PNG. They face Wales (15 October, Cardiff City) and Italy (October 22, Belgrade). Only the group winner goes directly to the WC, while the second-placed team will face a play-off with the second-placed nation in Group B (comprising Ireland, Russia and Spain) for the final qualifying place.
