Serial NRL bad boy Arana Taumata could get another chance with Wests
July 07, 2009
Wests Tigers are poised to resurrect the career of serial bad boy Arana Taumata, who was just two weeks ago sentenced to community service for his role in a brawl.
The sacked Melbourne Storm player has held talks with Tigers coach Tim Sheens and is expected to sign with the club next week.
The former Roosters and Bulldogs playmaker was chased by a number of clubs but the chance to partner Benji Marshall proved the clincher for Taumata.
Taumata, who has been sacked from four NRL clubs for off-field dramas, will spend the rest of the year playing for Brisbane Easts in the Queensland Cup before linking with the Tigers next season.
The Storm axed Taumata in February this year after the Wellington product was charged with assault.
He was sentenced to three months community service in a Melbourne Court last month.
From all reports, Taumata has worked hard to get his act together and will prove a handy acquisition for the Tigers if he continues on the straight and narrow.
"He has undertaken intensive counselling which has been provided by the NRL," said Taumata's manager Sam Ayoub.
"If ever I have seen a kid who is looking to make up for what has happened in the past it is AJ.
"I see a big future for him."

Tigers have been chasing him for ages now.
Interesting considering he is a similar sort of player to Benji. Thought they were wanting a real halfback so Benji could go back to 5/8.
As for Taumata, they reckon he has sorted his shit, gave up the drink ect. Ben Roberts has been in his ear

Guys i have heard from a storm insider that they have sacked him but have not released his contract and have had him in melbourne getting all the help he needs. dont be suprised if they keep him on the backburner to see how finchy ends up at the end of the year. We could still see him in storm colors next year.
WE ARE THE STORM FROM MELBOURNE TOWN! WE'LL BLOW THE OTHERS OFF THE GROUND, WE ARE THE STORM AND WERE NUMBER "1"

I am sworn to not revealing names. But there is truth to that. He's found work here and he's been billeted. How I know these things? Well he's working for my Father.

I'm not to sure on that, what I can say is that he works down here during the week, and then heads up to Brissy to play with Brisbane Easts during the weekend then flies back.nacho wrote:is he still living with the couple in ther 50's or 60'sFreshy wrote: I am sworn to not revealing names.
