The Mayor of Griffith John Dal Broi has announced that the Riverina town is set to host a NRL trial match between the Melbourne Storm and Canberra Raiders on February 7.
The cost of staging the match is estimated to be around $80,000, with $25,000 being the cost of flying the Melbourne Storm to Griffith via Sydney. Cr Dal Broi is hoping that a better deal can yet be negotiated for Griffith and sponsorship attracted.
"There's an expectation that some 5-6,000 people will turn up to the match at E.W. Moore Oval. Council is going to be fully supportive behind it. It'll be really really good for Griffith and surrounds because obviously people will come from a long way" Dal Broi said.

The trial game we had in Griffith many years ago was on a weekend of 40 + deg heat I spent most of the time in the swimming pool at the motel.
This was young Adam Blairs debut for us , he was impressive.
