I’ll be happy if we re-sign Cameron Smith, Billy Slater, Harry Grant, Billy Walters and Tino. Hoffman is retiring according to Bellamy. The rest are, if we sign them then cool but if we don’t it’s no big deal.

And apparently we’ve signed the younger brother of Cowboys player Kyle Laybutt from Bundaberg ( can’t remember his name) but it was on the news up here

INJURY-hit premiers Melbourne have signed promising forward Tom Eisenhuth from Penrith effective immediately in a bid to ease their injury crisis.

A former Australian Schoolboy, 25-year-old utility forward Eisenhuth played one NRL match for the Panthers in 2012 but has been in Anthony Griffin’s 20-man squad several times this year without getting a run.

Storm coach Craig Bellamy is a master of getting the best out of ‘no frills’ forwards and could well turn the tall Eisenhuth, who can play centre, second row or prop, into a top-liner.

The Storm lost star prop Sam Kasiano last round for eight to ten weeks (knee) and also have representative forwards Dale Finucane and Jesse Bromwich on the injured list.

Why flick Tui and Justin? I don't know enough about them, but I thought they were decent depth signings...?

Olam has shown a ton of promise for club and country. His time probably isn't up.

Been around a while, aren't getting any younger and aren't getting games. Happy to keep them but i can see them seeking greater opportunities elsewhere.

Fair enough. I suppose we could offer them about the same money they're on at the moment and for shorter term deals (ie 1 or 2 years) and if they get better options elsewhere then best of luck to them.

Get rid of Slater?
Seriously?
He overplayed his hand a bit in the first third of the season overcompensating for the loss of Cooper, but is still far and away the most complete full back in the game, and his contribution to our defensive management is irreplaceable.

If he wants one more season we'd be insane not to keep him. If your argument is let him go so we can keep Hughes, then why not ditch Cam too so we can keep Smith Jnr?
We must all hang together or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately

Slater is most likely retiring after the season. One giant thing you're ignoring.

He's a gun no doubt. But i reckon he's almost zero chance of playing on. It will be his decision, not ours. We aren't pushing him.

Wouldn't want Slater to go out like Thurston is this year. He should only play on if he's confident he will be at 100% for the season. Billy will make the right call though.

Ok, so we are apparently picking up two players ahead of the June 30 deadline;

Tom Eisenhuth from the Panthers
25yo
Plays Second Row and Centre
1 NRL game (2012)

Albert Vete from the Warriors
25yo
Plays Prop
45 NRL games (debut 2015)

I like the pick up of Albert Vete. Should be a decent signing

We’ve signed Marion Seve too from the Broncos, an outside back, I’m guessing to replace Young

Agree. At this stage of the season we could only expect scraps, but Vete could be an important backup.
