Rugby League boss David Gallop slams Melbourne fans
RUGBY League boss David Gallop has fired an extraordinary salvo at Melbourne rugby fans, likening their behaviour on Sunday to terrorists.
On the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Gallop attacked those among a 14,000-strong crowd at AAMI Park who booed him.
"I never really go for that whole passion line. I mean, terrorists are passionate about what they do and, you know, that doesn't make it right," Gallop said.
"I obviously didn't enjoy it, but I'm absolutely confident we made the right decision."
Gallop told a Crocmedia radio show in Queensland those who booed him were clearly in favour of Storm's behaviour in recent years.
"They were involved in large systematic cheating and those people who booed me yesterday, well, they obviously support the cheating that was going on."
When questioned about the use of the term terrorist Gallop did not back down.
"Well, it's a topical one at the moment," he said.
"Passion is a bad excuse and it gets used too much in sport ... Passion isn't something that is an excuse for poor behaviour."
Melbourne Storm was stripped of two premierships for breaching the salary cap.

What do you expect? In a News Ltd paper too.
Why does he say stuff like that - Because he can. Who is there to pull him up for it? Ron Gauci perhaps? HAHA, not a chance. He can say whatever he likes about our club (Supporters, players, coaches) and what does Gauci do - NOTHING.
I really wish Gus was somehow involved in our club.
Isn't it nice to know that our club is owned by a branch of News of the World?

See you later David. I don't take offence in your comments.
However to compare a half filled stadium of jeering fans to an organisation that has killed, murdered and change the world that we live in, is simply despicable and disrespectful (in particular on the day of the 10th anniversary of the 11/9 attacks). You have simply trivialise the lives of all the people that have lost their lives to the hands of terrorists.

Can we PLEASE get rid of this fool from running a whole sport? The fact he can sit there & liken us to terrorists is the most stupid thing I have ever heard.
The sooner an INDEPENDENT commission can be brought in & this man & his pack of lying scoundrels eliminated from the game, the better.

News of the World got audited by an INDEPENDENT government authority. Melbourne Storm got audited by the NRL, half owned by News Limited perpetrators of the whole mess in the first place.JAMIE wrote:What do you expect? In a News Ltd paper too.

I am really appalled at how he compared us to terrorists
