Nine is about to do the (almost) unthinkable and play an NRL match live into Melbourne.

Next Sunday’s Melbourne Storm v Brisbane Broncos game at AAMI Park will air live at 3pm.

A repeat of Survivor will instead air at 11:30pm in place of Embarrassing Illnesses.

Good news, about time they did this in Melbourne.

I have always wondered why Channel 9, who don't have the AFL rights any more, didn't broadcast more NRL games into Melbourne at decent hours.

Duh, they're showing it live against the gate.  This has been done MANY times in Melbourne. 
What we'd really like down here is for our AWAY games to be shown live.

I dont think it will really affect the gate people are going because its the 1st game in the new Stadium for the Storm.

1st home game in new stadium was always going to sell well even though we "are playing for nothing".

Hanson said at the members/new stadium forum that level 3 of the western stand would only be available for purchase if pre-ticket sales indicated a large crowd as they save $5k or $6k for not opening that section. I just checked ticketek website and guess what, level 3 of the western stand is available for purchase a week out from the game.

We should go close to a sell out in my opinion.

Totally agree... live against the gate. Grrrr and the people that want to
watch the game on TV will be there at the game... why not delay it by
3 hours so we can watch when we get home....

There are no AFL games in Melbourne on Sunday.

Channel NEIN should have tv rights revoked for a few seperate reasons
Gus picks one thing and yabbers on about it for no particular reason
a scrum today seen a 15 minute lima lima lima duck add break,or so it felt
i was trying to watch my boys run around and those peices of crap went to
an add for what seemed like an eternity,even halftime didnt get such a break....

I almost choked when I saw that the NRL Grand Final coverage was up for a logie.  It was such a biased piece of crap.  Someone better warn the channel 9 commentators that the game is actually going to be telecast in Melbourne so they can watch their manners.

You would have thought Parramatta had won the way they kept raving about them.

With these games live on Nine on Friday and Sunday, expect to hear something like "for those of you watching on GTV-9, I'll explain to you what a knock on is..." over and over again.

The only reason NINE are doing this is because both AFL games are on Fox Sports on Sunday arvo. No games on Seven as they have Monday Night Football next week. So it's LIVE NRL (NINE-3.00pm) v Netball (TEN-2.30pm) v 3 men and a little lady (SEVEN-3.15pm).
