Surely this mess could have been sorted during the off-season... no, let's wait until the season is just about ready to kick-off...NRL chief executive David Gallop says three members of the judiciary have been stood aside while they proceed with defamation action against the Melbourne Storm.
Greg Woods, Royce Ayliffe and Darrell Williams launched the action in the Supreme Court in the wake of comments made by Storm coach Crag Bellamy and chief executive Brian Waldron after Cameron Smith was suspended prior to the grand final.
Bradley Clyde and Sean Garlick have been placed on the new panel while Judge Paul Conlon has been installed as the new chairman.
Mr Gallop says the decisions was made to avoid the potential for conflict of interest claims.
"Obviously, while they're in Supreme Court litigation against the CEO and the coach of one of our clubs, we thought it was inappropriate that they sit on judiciary matters," he said.
"Not only ones involving Melbourne Storm but also players and teams playing against the Melbourne Storm."

Oh, and I'm sure there'll be no hard feelings and no conflict of interest once the supreme court litigation is over!"Obviously, while they're in Supreme Court litigation against the CEO and the coach of one of our clubs, we thought it was inappropriate that they sit on judiciary matters," he said.

Given Gallop's recent visit to Melbourne to "Clarify some things for the players" this is starting to look like a typical Gallop arse covering exercise
Funny that the "Don't bag the judiciary" media release came out at the same time
