Looks like Bellamy's favouring Turner over Walker at the moment. Almost every player is under pressure to keep their spots. Im way more confident now of the Storm winning the premiership.

I thought we would struggle without Cross, Scott and White all missing up front but the replacements seem more then capable.

Im certainly not sold on him yet ethier. but i do think he improved towards the end of last year and reportedly has had a great off-season.

Cooper Cronk will partner Scott Hill for the first time tonight

THE most pressing question surrounding Melbourne Storm's premiership claims should be answered in regional Queensland tonight.

While an injury-ravaged Brisbane side is unlikely to provide Storm coach Craig Bellamy with the acid test he desires, tonight's trial match in Toowoomba should reveal if there will be life for Storm after Matt Orford.

For the first time since Orford's defection to Manly, Melbourne's new halves combination of Cooper Cronk and Scott Hill will pair together.

Cronk, who has been handed the unenviable task of filling Orford's shoes, showed promising signs in an earlier trial against Parramatta in Ballina.

But how he operates with Hill — the former Test and New South Wales State-of-Origin pivot — standing outside him could well determine Storm's fate this season.

"It is a different feel without Matty Orford around," Storm centre Matt King said yesterday.

"But we have a lot of faith in the way Craig (Bellamy) coaches, and Cooper has fitted in really well. We are very confident with him and Scotty Hill guiding us around, we won't be far off the pace."

Facing the daunting prospect of five straight away matches to start the season, with Olympic Park in Commonwealth Games lock-down, King said Storm was primed to fly the gates.

"We know we need to start well, and we might shock a few people early on," King said.

"The only talk about us in the pre-season has been about the players we've lost, not the players we've picked up.

''I really think we'll sneak up on a few teams. I've got a lot of confidence about how we are going to go."

King will play his first and only trial tonight before Storm opens its season against the New Zealand Warriors in Auckland on March 12.

The Australian Test centre said he had overcome a quadriceps strain that ruled him out of earlier matches.

Kiwi back-rower David Kidwell and Hill will also suit up for the first time in 2006.

The Broncos are without Justin Hodges, Tame Tupou, Barry Berrigan, Shaun Berrigan, Tonie Carroll, Darren Lockyer, Brett Seymour, David Stagg, Brent Tate and Sam Thaiday.

This will be a good test for Hill and Cronk as i doubt our forwards will completly dominate.
