Almost took the words out of my mouth... up until last year (or maybe it was the year before), I have been a passionate NSW supporter (having been born there), but my hatred of Fool Gould, as well as the snubbing of our in-form players and the inclusion of Dragons/Roosters/Knights/Bulldogs players for NSW, have swayed my support to QLD... (although Dallas Johnson could've been selected ahead of Flannery in my opinion, and I would still love to see Bell playing for QLD).
Now that King was selected for NSW, I was just hoping that our Stormers had good performances on such a large stage, and as it turned out, they all did.

It was one of the most enjoyable Origins for a long time for me... :thumbright:

i agree entirely. was at home with about 40 people watching it, by the time the celebrations had ended, our sole NSW supporter had fled (literally) up the road back to his place :D

Cam wouldn't have missed that penalty goal (stupid lockyer), giving Qld a one point lead and possibly the game. Instead, they had to drag us to a heart stopping extra time. On the other hand, that finish was the perfect example of why Kimmorley should remain a Blue. He was clearly the best player for Queensland
Okay maybe I should have read this thread first. I won't repeat everything I just said except that it was still rather foolish of Hagan to take his best defender off with almost 20 mins left. It isn't as if Smith is the type of hooker that needs a rest he plays almost the full game every week. As far as I'm concerned if Smith stays on the gaps in defence don't open up and NSW don't even come close to winning. The penalty wouldn't have mattered.

Anyway I guess I'm in the same boat as Kingy when it comes to Origin. I was born in NSW and, excluding a couple of years in Vic as a child, lived all my life there but I don't feel any allegience to a team dominated by Roosters and Dragons. I enjoy the concept of Orgin and the fact that it is frequently a good game and that I love going to watch them because of the atmosphere. If the Bulldogs players (or guys I like such as Smith or Thurston or Price) do something good I applaud no matter what side they are on. If players I'm not so fond of do something silly I laugh at them.
When Thurston levelled the scores last night I was rather annoyed that we missed tickets, here I am in Qld and I couldn't even go :(
Before the scores were levelled (i.e. at 20-19) I was laughing at Lockyer because thats precisely why you don't kick field goals in the first half!

Why wouldn't these forums allow me to post the above two messages as a single message??

I got flashbacks of Grand Final 2004 when Lockyer kicked that field goal to make it 13-0, except this time it's for the team I go for.

LOL me too, and another example where Johns kicked one to lead 17-0 at half time against the Dogs - that was the game where El Masri booted the goal from the sideline after the siren to win.
Have you managed to see the show we get up here on Sunday with Voss and Gould Boots 'n' All?
I said at the time if this screws Queensland like it usually screws everyone else I am sending an email in to them to a segment on the field goal before half time. I'd like to hear a few more examples because I know they are out there.

lower level, first half just below the upper seats, second half, near the stairs to the right, surrounded by the only group of Blues supporters I saw all night (an old friend and his friends)

I have decided, after taking an interest in the last few series but doing some active fence sitting, to back the Queenslanders.

My decision was vindicated last night, what a great game from both sides!

QLD - born & bred in WA but supported Maroons due to Wally, Alfie & just the way Qld played - always attacked & tried to score tries....

Lately having Phil Gould as a coach made it real easy to hate the Blues - and now he's been replaced by someone just as easy to hate :)
