Herald Sun is reporting that the Storm self reported to the NRL Integrity Unit and the QLD Government of a bubble breach after a Storm player invited someone back to stay in their accommodation from outside the bubble.

Not good... Especially after all of the heat other players/codes have got for breaches...

On the eve of Finals too ::)

Apparently from midnight last night, Storm players and officials were considered "normal citizens" after having been in isolation for 14 days in QLD. This is all going to come down to the timing of when the visitor arrived as to whether rules were officially broken.

Unofficially, the player is an idiot and should be following whatever the team protocol is.

So disappointing.

For those that can't access the article, it also states that the player and guest must now be COVID tested and go into isolation.

Puts a spanner in the works for Week 1 of the Finals if that is accurate...

Christian Welch stood down until further notice.

Probably one of the last ones I expected it from :(

He's a smart bloke... He just had to wait 24 hours!
But you are right.

Yourhero I agree Christian Welch would have been one of the last players I would have picked.

It's been said that a male only has a finite amount of blood in his system to either activate the organ in his head or the organ somewhere else.

He has been should down by Storm, which is good, because at least we were open about it and not trying to hide it like other teams. I read somewhere he thought he was out of restriction as the 14 day period had passed and was a normal citizen again. But there is two things apparently what time did the visitor come back because the 14 day period did not end until midnight and visitors outside the hub can not come in. If 10 Broncos players can other get a fine for getting caught going to the Caxton hotel then surely he only gets a fine too. Storm has been so much better at this than others and it has been harder for Storm players. Then again Storm are always made an example of and treat unfairly by the NRL, so who knows.

Storm will now be in the Melbourne papers and Melbourne news. They only time the care enough to report on the club.

NRL to dock Storm 20 competition points.... haha

Anyway, who knows the full circumstances, he was playing with fire even if it turns out his visitor arrived after midnight.

Well done on the Storm getting on the front foot with the whole situation.

You reckon Parra or Penrith would have self reported?

So I’ve heard from a source it may not have been a girl at all but a family friend and they came for Dinner
The boys are allowed to cook in their rooms and Christian was cooking outside on his Belcony with a mate ...a coach walked past and saw them chatting alerted frank

Don’t know if I believe it

Christian Welch has received a $20,000 fine, with $10,000 suspended. So has to pay $10,000 at the moment.
