Round 14 - Roosters vs Storm
Brilliant first half performance.
It was like we went back to 2017 with high kicks for Vunivalu. I know he is up against a rookie, but why haven't we done that more in the last two and a half years.
What an individual effort by Hughes for his try. Great play by Foxx, Papenhuyzen and Olam for our second try. Probably could have scored more.
Lots of errors from Roosters. I am glad we were able to hold them out in last 4 or 5 minutes. A Roosters score would have seen a momentum swing.

Outstanding effort that.
Welch set the tempo from the start. The big man was everywhere and took it upon himself to show the rest of the pack how hard they will have to play. NAS has continued it since coming on as well.
Love seeing this kind of footy from our blokes.
Hughes, Paps, JAC and Olam all very good.

I was just having a think about how special that win was... and more broadly, how well the club has done so far in 2020.
We have played two home games all year. The two weeks after the resumption of play - we lost to the Raiders and then beat the Rabbitohs. Outside of that we have played away every single week. And not just 'played away', the guys have had their lives uprooted numerous times. Forced to relocate at a moments notice. Unsure where they will be heading when they get onm the bus after a game or when they will next see their families.
Add to this for the Roosters game, we were missing our two best players. Smith has not just been the important cog for our team, he has been THE cog. Before last night, when Smith has been unavailable, we had a 30% win record. Munster has been our attacking spark and without him, a lot of questions were being asked as to where our points are going to come from. Jahrome Hughes has been playing exceptionally well, but can he actually step up even further and lead this team to points and victory? F*cking oath he can...
The Roosters were missing a couple of players, sure. But their two best players (Tedesco and Keary) were still able to take the field and were contained well. The Roosters have had to leave Sydney just 3 times all year for games. Not once have they had to relocate their entire Football Department, come up with new training locations/methods/schedules. They haven't had to be away from their families. They haven't had to really even contemplate it.
This is the back-to-back Premiers, in their own house. The same team that has beaten the Rabbits, Broncos, Dogs, Eels, Dragons and Cowboys by an average of 27.5 points... Yet here we are, the over-the-hill Storm, after the season from hell, without their two best players, completely dominating them physically and smashing them by 18 points (and could have been a lot more, honestly).
The efforts of club staff as well cannot go unappreciated. The Twin Waters facility looks to be an outstanding site, all circumstances considered. Their ability to find innovative ways for us to train, get where we need to go and ensure the players are in as good a position as possible to put in a good performance on the field, has been phenomenal.
Well done to literally everyone at the club. I could not be more proud.
