Panthers v Storm: Capewell injured; Storm changes unlikely

After going down in a thriller to Parramatta, Penrith's premiership credentials will be further examined when they face a Storm side shooting for three wins in a row.

The Panthers will have learned lessons after squandering a 10-0 lead against the undefeated Eels, while Melbourne look dangerous having adjusted to the new six-again rule.

The Storm have been a bogey team for Penrith, beating them in 18 of their past 20 meetings dating back to 2006. The Panthers last trumped Melbourne in 2018.

The Rundown

Team News
Panthers: A knee injury to Kurt Capewell will result in a reshuffled back-row, with Liam Martin tipped to move into the starting side. Fullback Dylan Edwards is due back from a hamstring injury.
Storm: Tui Kamikamica is out indefinitely with a back injury. Ryley Jacks is expected to remain at halfback with Jahrome Hughes (broken hand) at least a week away from returning.

Key Match-Up
He turns 37 on Thursday, but Cameron Smith is still very much elite. The Storm hooker was outstanding against Newcastle, proving he can use his unparalleled game smarts to thrive under the six-again rule. Meanwhile, Api Koroisau is a focal point of Penrith's attack and always dangerous from dummy-half.

Graham Annesley has come out today to announce a crackdown on the play-the-ball ; on 360
right now they are saying that is primarily aimed at the Storm. Now they give us the shocking Ashley Klein.

This is looking like a hatchet job where the NRL are about to make an “example” of us.

Friday night could be ugly.

Agree. This is going to be bad. NRL 360 everything is Storm's fault. Followed by everything is Smith's fault. Although watching the Rooster play last night, they spent most of the game off side. But that is alright. We are going to have so many six again called against us and don't be surprised to see more that one sin bin either. The Daily Telegraph has had two days of bad Storm stories, wonder what tomorrow will be.

Yep, 100% hatchet job here.

Paul Crawley and Paul Kent have both said that they have been on the phone to Graham Annesley lodging their complaints. 24h later, Annesley sends an email to all clubs with an almost word for word puppet replication of Paul Crawley.

NSW fans won’t care. Fans of most other teams won’t care. But this should really bother everyone. The NRL are just being lead around like a b*tch on a leash, by these half-baked journos. It is a complete embarrassment.

I really wish our club were stronger on this stuff. They like to keep everything behind closed doors but sometimes they need to come out publicly. Call out the bias. Call out the NRL jumping at Crawley/Kent/Hooper’s will. Call out the appointment of Klein and the expected predetermined result.

These journos will respond with an avalanche of negative stories/commentary, but is that any different to where we are now?

It will create an “us against the world” mentality at the club which wouldn’t be a bad thing either.

Staying silent and copping what we all know is amateur hour BS, is not a good strategy IMO.

We're between a rock and a hard place on this one and it's very much damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Whilst I hate the way the tail is wagging the dog and we say nought I honestly feel we're better off not giving it anymore oxygen than it currently gets. A strong willed person needs to get on 360 who's not connected to the club and go in to bat for us, a Gould or someone of similar standing. (Notice I purposely didn't say of similar respect)

Nah not Gould...he's so anti Storm it isn't funny.

The ONLY TV person I can think of who consistently supports and argues in favour of our Club and players is Ben Ikin.

Note I said tv person...as Roy Masters is a massive supporter of our Club, players and systems from the newspaper media.

Crawley and Kent turning Smith telling the ref the Knights were offside into some huge deal was bloody hilarious.

An opposition captain pointing out an offside player? Whoa! That doesn't happen 37 times in every f*cking game ::)

The NSW media bashing of the Storm is happening very early this year. Usually it happens about three or four weeks before the finals.
