NRL.com had an article last December on play the ball speeds and we weren't close to the worst culprit last season either. It just gets ignored and the goal posts get moved again.

Across the entire 2019 season, we are 12th of 16 teams in the NRL for Average Play the Ball Speeds @ 3.5 seconds.

Worth a read
Good article.

My personal pet hate is the oft repeated "they signed two contracts".
There is no evidence that any Storm player signed two versions of a contract. None at all. The Deloitte report does say that the contract held by Storm's office differed from that submitted by the NRL. But THAT IS ALL.

Having been involved with multi million dollar construction contracts, I can categorically state that it would be easy to add or subtract pages from a contract - especially removing them. There is a wonderful line "This section not used" which can be inserted for any clause or appendix not included in a pro forma contract, and the beauty of it is that these pages do not have to be signed.
So if you have (say) Appendix 10: Other Benefits, the original might say boat/car/house in the country - value $ X and be signed by the player. An unscrupulous CEO or player agent for example might remove this and replace it with a page that says Appendix 10: Other Benefits This section not used. As I say, no-one needs to sign this page.

Interestingly, Deloitte also say that there is absolutely no evidence of any misconduct by the players.

I have always thought Cam, Bill, Greg and Ryan would have had a real shot at a successful lawsuit for reputational damage over this one. Would be nice to see News ltd taken down a peg or two - especially after they sacked directors for contemplating a legal appeal to the loss of premierships and playing 2010 for no points.

Finch has just absolutely given it to Shane Richardson on Sunday Night with Matty Johns after James Roberts was sin-binned him for the elbow.

Really fired up.

Onya Finchy!

This is exactly what should happen in the media following two weeks of rubbish. Call out blatant hypocrisy.

Deadset c*ckhead.

Because Scott’s awkward - yet clearly accidental - tackle is the grub talking point from this round of footy :roll

Leilua (not surprisingly) dropped knees into the back TWICE. James Roberts elbow was just about the grubbiest thing seen on a footy field in 5 or so years.

CLEARY pushing his agenda.
CLEARLY a f*ckwit.

The way he and fox went at Smith too was piss weak. He was frustrated by his own error and they made it like he was depressed by their over the top scrutiny.

Last week it was James Hooper who felt the full wrath of Brett Finch when discussing Melbourne’s wrestling tactics.

This week it was the turn of South Sydney CEO Shane Richardson.

And Finchy didn’t hold back.

Cast your mind back seven days, and Fox League journalist Hooper had criticised the Storm’s ruck tactics on Big League Wrap.

But no sooner had Hooper spoken, he copped an instant backlash from Finch, an ex-Melbourne player.

“You’re entitled to that opinion,” said Finch “But it doesn’t mean it’s right. Because if they were doing illegal tactics, the NRL would tell them to stop.

“Now, you’re entitled to your opinion but just because that opinion is against Melbourne, doesn’t mean what they’re doing is wrong either.”

The fires surrounding Melbourne’s wrestling had been stoke in the wake of their victory over Souths, with Richardson labelling them as “not in the spirit of the game”.

But Richardson’s comments came back to bite him on Sunday Night With Matty Johns when the guests were discussing the Rabbitohs’ win over Brisbane on Friday.

The Bunnies had two men — both ex-Broncos James Roberts and Jaydn Su’A — sent to the bin for using their elbows in separate incidents.

Roberts will now join George Burgess — suspended for eye-gouging — on the sidelines and faces two games out.

And it prompted another outburst from Finch.

“I’d like to hear what Shane Richardson has to say about that,” said Finch. “Richo? You bagged Melbourne Storm for being a dirty team.

“Well there’s another player, you’ve got one player on the sidelines for eye gouging, there’s an elbow to the head.

“You want to criticise Melbourne Storm players, I’d like to hear your response to your own team, Richo!”

Neither Scott nor Addo-Carr cited. Sua and Roberts both cited, and of course Leilua. Excellent .

Finchy is a star !

It’s really refreshing to have a guy who’s high profile, gets a lot of TV spots and generally seems to really love the Storm to the point he’ll defend them in this way.

It says a lot about how much of an affinity he has with the club given he played at the Raiders, Roosters, Eels and Super League but seems to regard himself as a former Melbourne player. He even wore a Storm jersey for a skit with other former players a while back.

Finch played with a few clubs and he does not bag any of them, but he has a real love for Melbourne Storm. I read a story by Roy Masters once, that one pre season camp, (2018 I think), the club asked him down to talk to the players. He said to them, "The only regret he has in his career is that he did not come to Melbourne Storm early and play for season for us".
I agree he needs a statue.

Let's start a campaign to get Finchy that statue then.
