Found this little story on Brandon Smith from 2013 about how he made his way to the Cowboys (Skip to about 35 seconds). Thought it was quite interesting. It sounds like he has worked very hard to get to where he is.

Damn it I wish it was not true but it's coming from his father ...I wasn't sure it really was his father to be honest but I just watched the video from above and his fathers name is Shane and this info came from a Shane smith...sigh
What annoys me the most is on social media Scott drinkwater and the boys were playing basketball and Brandon was playing and neither wrist had a guard or cast on and he was actually playing too so if he has an injured wrist then how can he be using both arms ...it kinda would explain why he didn't play a lot of minutes last week ...he was taken off suddenly at the 61sh min after a huge tackle and he never went back on
Sigh

Horrible, horrible timing for the young guy... Just as he was ensured of a further taste of NRL action. He should be available week 1 of the finals, if desperately needed.
From TripleM - "Meanwhile, promising young hooker Brandon Smith will miss up eight to 10 weeks with a fractured wrist.
The 21-year-old had surgery on Wednesday after making a big impression in his three NRL games this season, scoring two tries.
Smith fractured his scaphoid a few weeks ago but continued to play until the club sent him for an x-ray because of persistent pain."
