I agree. Finch would be backup, but Widdop is the future. Having Finchy on the coaching staff would help develop Widdop even more.Mattpoet wrote:the thought occurs that he could be joining the coaching staff if the rumours are true

Widdop could easily play anywhere in the backline
he is that talented
Finch is merely a half and not a great one

Very happy indeed with the signing. Many people say our achilles heal is in the forwards and this can only help strengthen us in that area but will strengthen our team overall. I see Newcastle fans are very sorry to see him go so they obviously rate him pretty high. Great news for our run into the finals.

Brett Finch unsure on rugby league future
Hot on the heels of his double against Widnes, former NRL five-eighth Brett Finch admits his future is still up in the air as Wigan prepare to welcome financially-stricken Bradford in Super League action on Friday.
The 30-year-old revealed at the start of the month that he intends to return to Australia when his current deal with the Warriors expires at the end of the season but has refused to confirm if he will play in the NRL again.
Off-field commitments have Finch, who played for Canberra, Sydney Roosters, Parramatta and Melbourne, contemplating retirement. But he insists they won't dampen his desire to reach the Super League grand final in October.
