Sounds like all areas outside of Sydney & Brisbane have been royally shafted with this deal. Once again the NRL prove themselves to be f**king useless when it comes to negotiating TV rights.

With the monday night football, it has been written into the contract that no team may play more than 3 monday night games in the 1 season.

I was getting worried that some teams might get shafted in the Monday night stakes. We had a Monday night game in 2001 - wasn't a fan of it. Can't see it being anything other than a ratings winner - certainly not a win for the fans.

Caught very little in the way of news - a smallish article in the newspapers up there - nothing to do with how bad it is for the game. I think the NRL decided to jump before they were left with the crumbs after AFL rights. As it is - they'ved served up a fairly harsh blow to AFL - except they would have been smarter to include times to broadcast into Vic - that would have almost forced Nein out of the AFL rights entirely!

damn it this sux thers going too be 2 friday night games and we are not gonna get to see any live but surley if afl doesnt buy the right too nine they will show the nrl

In 2001, at Docklands, we had one Thursday night match, one Friday night match and two Monday night matches.

The other games were on Saturdays and Sundays.

What wasn't in the press release but has been confirmed for Victoria is:

- All Origins and Tests must start prior to 10:00 the night they are played
- All televised games by Channel 9 must be shown prior to midnight on fridays and sundays or MUST be given to ABC or SBS to be shown at Sydney/Brisbane times.

I don't want monday night footy cause then you've got to wait longer to know how you went on your tipping AND big and here....if your team plays on monday night you'll go to work hungover on tuesday :(
