+1

A truly useless re-signing when compared to the players we have let go this year.

Up until today we had 2 players on our roster who were projected towards playing in the halves (Cronk/Green) Only 1 of those is a proven nrl player. Now we have added depth in that position and the player is still young. After the hell we've had with injuries in the halves this year I'd hardly call the signing "useless".

Personally I would've gone hard at Isaac John despite him missing most of this season with an injury. He wouldn't be expecting considerable NRL game time next year with Penrith's quality halves pairing in front of him and is still young.

Ah well, we're stuck with Hampton.

From an outside perspective it looks as if he has only been re-signed because we have lost Roberts and Walker. Not because of his performances. The fact that he could not keep his spot over someone with a reputation like Roberts gives me the impression that all he adds to our depth is quantity not quality

That's why we wanted to re-sign him but why did he want to re-sign when he's more likely to get game time in North Queensland or Canberra, not to mention undoubtedly a larger pay check?

This is not fact, but what I have heard. Hampton agreed with terms with the Sharks and then had a change of mind in the cooling off period (Carney drama), because he agreed to terms he could go nowhere else. He had two choices Storm or Sharks. His manager tried had to find a way out/do deals, (Turner/Titans) but could not do it. So he stayed with Storm.

@chrisgarry1
The Melbourne Storm will sign Northern Pride 5/8 Shaun Nona this week. Excellent get by the Storm.

Probably a 2nd tier salary. More halves depth.

Good signing. Now we at least have a bit more depth.

Adds to our depth in the halves. He can kick goals too.
