Storm prop out for year

MICHAEL Greenfield's unfortunate stint at the Melbourne Storm, and possibly his career, could be over with the unlucky prop heading to surgery for a bulging disc in his neck that he suffered in his only game of the season.

Greenfield will not play again this season and his future is uncertain, with the 26-year-old not contracted beyond this year with the Storm. Greenfield has played only 38 games in an NRL career that has been plagued by injury.

His career began in 2004 with Cronulla. He moved to South Sydney and then St George Illawarra. He was recruited to the Storm to add size to a pack that was exposed in the later stages of last season.

But after impressing in the pre-season, he injured a calf in the lead-up to the opening-round game against Canberra and was sidelined for several weeks. With the Storm winning its first nine games, Greenfield did not receive another opportunity in first grade until round 12 against Brisbane.

Very disappointing, he was destined to have a big season with the Storm and become a regular in the starting line-up. Now he's destined to be another one game wonder for the club, what a shame.

Not good for him.. severe injury and off contract..

Hopefully his surgery goes well and he can recover well.
