....in saying that I find this signing very suprising

The top squad currently has 27 players after confirmation yesterday that Canberra veteran Troy Thompson and young Warriors winger Elijah Niko would be joining Storm.

They will join under-20s players Robbie Rochow, Jake Hawkins and Mitchell Johnson, who have been added to Melbourne's playing stocks for 2011.

Very strange, he is average at best.

In a 27 man squad we have Smith, Hinchy, Kostjasyn, Woolford and now hawkins, 5 hookers? when cam is an 80 minute player is insane.

Hawkins does do 2 things very well, niggle and give away stupid penalties. He can play 6, 7 and backrow (which is good as he cant play 9) and best case scenario he may develop into a Neville Costigan type, though thats being very optimistic as I can remember Neville as a 19 yo absolutely snapping veteran first-graders in half. 

And I doubt Woolford is here next year, he's a good talent who will surely have clubs after him.

I'm surprised but believe he isn't on the list after reading the article on the Storm website.  Says that the 27 player squad has 8 players from the 2009 under 20 winning team and lists Duffie, Proctor, Rochow, Widdop, Bromwich, Kelly, O'Niell and Chisholm.  No mention of Rogers.  Plus if Vea still has a year on his contract and fills that final 27 spot then it looks complete.
