Its always sad to see anyone go. But we gotta do what we gotta do. Im looking forward to the juniors that come into replace any big names we lose.Play the ball wrote: I'll give you the mail ,
we will lose one of the big four , probably Inglis, i think Bellamy will prefer to hold, Cam, Cooper and Slater for structure.
and lose a heap more like, Tolman, Finch, Quinn, White, Lima, and Hoffman,
Unfortunatly, that is the reality of what we are looking at.

Its heart-breaking hearing the boys may have to leave let alone it becoming reality.
Inglis, although does the least on the field, its still Inglis, :'(
Same goes for the other boys.

You could easily make the argument he does the most per touch. 'bula wrote: Its heart-breaking hearing the boys may have to leave let alone it becoming reality.

And I'll stick to my belief it will be Slater that leaves.

i think Slater might be the one to put his hand up and volunter to leave, which could make the decision easier for everyone, but i believe Bellamy would prefer him to stay, and i think reading between the lines Greg is on more money,Noa Nadruku wrote:You could easily make the argument he does the most per touch. They would never come out & say that 'in plain language' as it would amount to an admission of collusion between News Ltd & their employee,(David Gallop) to restrict another group of it's employees from pursuing an alternate course of actionNews Limited is determined to get the teams below the $4.1 million cap by cutting players
Drastic I know but....................
There is nothing stopping the severing of existing,(now classed as illegal) contracts by mutual consent. Then having those players sign new contracts.
Anyone refusing to register those players & their new contracts would be placing themselves in an indefensible & possibly criminal position.

Personally I believe there is a reason that the other 15 CEO's did not even complain about playing against an illegal team and all publicly supported Gallop.
They were promised something for their support and in my opinion it was this.
At seasons end our top 15 players will be sent off, with our number 1 player going to the team that finished 15th, 2nd to 14th etc etc. As we have to pay them, the other teams will need no extra cap room and we will have to get by with 25 players on minimum wage, ie $1.5 million meaning we will be under the cap for 2011

That may be right, but Hartigan told Bellamy and the players yesterday that wasn't an option. Players will be leaving.Bourbon Rat wrote:They would never come out & say that 'in plain language' as it would amount to an admission of collusion between News Ltd & their employee,(David Gallop) to restrict another group of it's employees from pursuing an alternate course of actionNews Limited is determined to get the teams below the $4.1 million cap by cutting players

Top players have left EVERY year since our inception.Virtual unknowns came in to replace them.
The difference now is the dogmatic demand for a number of Storm trained - world class players to be sacrificed to appease the people who have a vested interest in NOT having a successful team in Victoria for a VERY long time.
News Ltd own half of the NRL setup & all of Storm,(through a shelf company),so they have nothing to lose by gutting Storm & everything to gain if it provides them with an exit strategy from the NRL.
Even the knuckle draggers at the ARL can see that

Inglis 500k.....Tolman....150k.....Finch 100k....Quinn......150k....White.....150k.....Lima....200k.....Hoffy.....350k
total......1.6million.
i thought we were only 700 k over the cap ??
Inglis, Lima and Finch would do it in conjunction with some minor pay cuts and taking on 3 newbies at 55k each.
what am i missing ????

Let's just think about this....its either about the cap or it's not.
we haven't been made to get under the cap for 2010.
Gallop has siad under the cap in 2011 or they don't play for points.
if it is only 230k over for 2011 and being under the cap is the be all and end all....then that is only a Lima and Finch (both who seemingly were destined to go).
just seems like that the alternative agenda of dismantling the team is being run by the NRL ...WHEN IN FACT THE PLAYERS LAWYERS JUST NEED TO CALL HIS BLUFF.
IT'S EITHER ABOUT THE CAP OR IT'S NOT..which one is it Gallop

OK, we can't challenge to get the trophies back but surely this is something that we can challenge. Problem is News have stated what they and will certainly get it. The club could challenge but it's News Ltd's money so unless they have a change of heart we're resigned to losing one or two of our top 4 players...Hailstorm wrote: Whilst in some ways I can understand where the NRL is coming from when not allowing pay cuts,
their theory being other clubs missed out on some of these players because we paid overs for them
but in reality I don't know how the NRL can insist on not allowing pay cuts. Surely that is a restraint
of trade for one thing. They also couldn't stop a player or more from signing a one year deal with
another club and then signing back with us for the years to follow, so what is the difference if they
just take pay cuts. If they're prepared to do it then this should be allowed, end of story!!
Gallop is making me more and more angry as the days go by

Unfortuantly we have to get our heads around this, like it or lump it,
We dont have a controversial strong willed CEO like a Waldron anymore who will challenge and do it his way,
We are owned by news ltd , who .........are now on the same page as Gallop , and are therfore going to play it by his rules,
there wont be any challenges in court, not while we are owned by news ltd, we will do as Gallop says .
Players will go.

Not necessarily, the club won't challenge but the players could challenge through either a class action, individually (unlikely due to the cost) or through the RLPA.Play the ball wrote:there wont be any challenges in court, not while we are owned by news ltd, we will do as Gallop says .

I guess they could, and i would be all for it if they did, if the club ( news ltd) is against that though, which I'm almost certain they will be, there would be a conflict of interest within the same club, and that would be messy.Surandy wrote:Not necessarily, the club won't challenge but the players could challenge through either a class action, individually (unlikely due to the cost) or through the RLPA.Play the ball wrote:there wont be any challenges in court, not while we are owned by news ltd, we will do as Gallop says .
They should be getting legal advice on where they stand exactly, but it will be difficult i would imagine, when you dont have the backing of the club that you are fighting to play for.
