Re: Smith and Slater Statue
Inglis wasn't part of our 2012 and 2017 premiership teams so I don't think he's in the same category.Stormhunter wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 7:49 pm Smith, Slater and Bellamy are all one club men and automatically associated with the Storm. If you include Cronk an argument could be made for Inglis...

Re: Smith and Slater Statue
I'm very torn on this. Smith > Slater > Cronk in terms of status as all-time rankings for their positions But I don't know if the club would have had such success without the three of them together. All our GF victories (excl 1999) have had the three of them feature quite prominently. They were cons...

Re: Official thread and signing news
Meh I don't know what all your fuss is about. It's normal for clubs in salary cap scenarios to go through stages of rebuilding. We've had it good for so long and now we're just experiencing the downturn that's to be expected in a salary cap economy. Can't really see how the club has 'mismanaged' a s...

Re: Official thread and signing news
If his heart isn't going to be in it then it's better that he leaves the club. As exceptional of a talent as he is, it wouldn't be good in the long term to have him forced to play out his contract. It will be interesting to see if Craig can keep him focused and committed this year. I have thoroughly...

Re: Official thread and signing news
Sallymay you are right with everything in the last post. But the thing I am most angry with and what people are upset by is, all those players had current contract and asked to be released. A contract should be honored. Contracts don't mean anything in RL. I can't think of another professional spor...

Re: Official thread and signing news
I get re-signing players is (mostly) good. Just not sure if Kenny or Kamikamica needed to be given new contracts just yet. If it makes you feel better, contracts these days don't seem to be worth the paper they're printed on. - Kasiano was contracted to end of 2020 - Drinkwater was contracted to en...

Re: Storm to finish 9th in the 2019 Ladder
Towards the end of the season the other teams would have had more video on our young guys who were surprise packets at the start of the year (I'm thinking Hughes and Paps in particular).

Re: Suli
If the other clubs in the comp would be willing to pay round about what we paid (many would probably pay more) then he was 'valued' at about the right price.

Re: Suli
It's a chicken/egg situation really. Is it the gameplan that limits what the halves do or is it the limitations of our halves that determine what the gameplan is? Either way we need to factor in more aerial opportunities for Suli or else he doesn't get the chance to produce those diamond plays that ...

Re: NSW Media Campaign against Smith and Storm
Another garbage article by a NRL 'journalist'. I'm disappointed that this click-bait headline got me to bite. Storm win PR job of week for spin on Bali brawl, but NRL was unmoved By Danny Weidler Sydney Morning Herald October 19, 2019 — 9.18pm Melbourne Storm chairman Bart Campbell drove the push fo...

Re: Suli
I don't think Suli was overvalued. Didn't we sign him after his second consecutive year as the highest try-scorer in the comp? He has been extremely under-used in the last two years with our halves unable (or unwilling) to put kicks through for him to contest in the air.
