AFL doesn't rate on TV in Sydney, so I can't quite see the link between signing Folau and the value of their TV deal.  They were expecting that kind of money before the signing, and I expect it won't have changed after this afternoon.

Re: Big name NRL player, fielding AFL offer

$6m over 4 years - for someone that has never actually played the ping pong game.

IMHO let him go, drain their coffers of every last dollar, be crap at their game, making a mockery of their administration, and come crawling back in five years time.

Re: FREE ENTRY FOR STORM MEMBERS IN ROUND 10 (Raiders)

I probably wouldn't donate to Men of League.  League players earn a lot more than I do, and charity should begin at home.

However, I may sign up for a Raiders season ticket after their gesture.  $DEITY knows it's easier for me to get to Bruce than it is to get to Richmond.

Re: 2010 - our most critical year ever.

Even if Melbourne gets Super 15 team how will they share the new stadium  ??? Don't the seasons run the same time  ??? Hardly.  About half their season is before ours and half conflicts.  However, that hasn't stopped Yawnion from playing games at Canberra Stadium or the SFS during the NRL season.  ...

Re: 2010 - our most critical year ever.

I sure hope South Africa wins this one.  The Raiders had won, what was it, three from five Grand Finals as they entered their 12th year, right around the time the Brumbies started up.  Now Canberra is a Union town and the Raiders are a farce.  I'd rather that didn't happen in Melbourne.

Re: Dallas Going?

DJ leaving would sure mean the rest of the boys would have to scramble in defence.  We seem to leak points badly whenever DJ is off the field.  He will be missed, and painfully so, if he does move on.

Re: Greg Inglis - update on his court case

Given the general attitude of Victoria Police to these matters and given everything I have seen and heard in the media (and outside it); this has "high profile scalp" written all over it. My substantially less experience made me think "Gold Digger" or "Professional Victim&q...

Once live (at the ground) and once on Channel BT.

I'll get the DVD after payday.

Re: Once more - With Feeling !

2 weeks after the GF is too soon for even cashed up supporters to organise worthwhile airfares and accommodation. Watching the ESL GF on Channel Nein now (at least they removed the "Live" watermark this time) I was astounded at the two penalties that St Helens won in their first attacking ...

Pity that Brett White is meant to be getting married the day after the roos squad flies off to the tour.  Eep.  Scheduling fail.

Re: Player of the year 2009

Dallas Johnson.  100%.   When he's on the field, our attack gets to fire and our defence is almost impenetrable.  When he is yanked off or is otherwise missing, we are just an ordinary footy team with our share of marquee players. Edit: As singlemalt said, he's a fantastic contributor to the team ev...

Re: Channel 9 - worst yet

It's gotten to the point that unless people start de-programming channel 9 off their TVs, and making it known that they've done it, just venting anger when they do something utterly predictable is pale and inadequate.

Re: After party

i thought 06 and 07 werent that bad actually... At the 07 party there were more people waiting outside in the stairwell than there were in the function room.  Those who left at kickoff and thus were at the front of the queue got in, and those who waited around for the lap of honour before walking o...

Re: Congrats Toyota Cup Boys

I remember that dislocated shoulder.  It was our 13.  We should have a good replacement for Dallas in a few years if he sticks around, with balls like that.
